Faculty Development Institute (FDI)
The Faculty Development Institute (FDI) provides a broad range of professional development opportunities to all faculty, staff, and graduate students through academic year short courses and comprehensive summer workshops.
FDI is a continuously improving program designed to have a long-term effect on the integration of instructional technology as a critical, enabling component of the university's mission. This nationally recognized program’s core mission involves engaging those who teach with the thoughtful integration of technology in educational settings. In addition to sessions concerning established and emerging learning technologies, the university community can expect sessions on topics as diverse as grant writing, high performance computing, creative technologies for the arts, and SAS/JMP throughout the year. Through an extensive set of collaborations, FDI offers programming that speaks to many aspects of the university’s learning, discovery, and engagement missions.
Recommendations regarding short course and track topics are always welcome and are encouraged. Suggestions as well as questions regarding FDI should be directed to fdi@vt.edu
