Computer-Integrated Learning Spaces (CILS)
Computer-Integrated Learning Spaces (CILS) provides support for all computer-assisted classrooms managed centrally for the university by Learning Technologies as well as several departmentally managed spaces. Computers in these learning spaces may be used by anyone with a valid Virginia Tech Hokie Passport and PID.
The following CILS may be scheduled for university classes or university-affiliated events: 1 Architecture Annex; 306 Hahn Hall; 40 Graduate Life Center; 1370 Litton-Reaves Hall; 301A Price Hall; 101 Saunders Hall; 160, 180, and 360 Shanks Hall; 1010 and 1080 Torgersen Hall. Spaces which are managed for other university entities include the Math Emporium, 114E Randolph Hall, 188 Durham Hall, 107 Ware Lab, 3250 Torgersen Hall (bridge), and 107 Andrews Information Systems Building.
The base software package provided in all CILS includes Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, MATLAB, Mathematica, SPSS, and Minitab. Most CILS also have additional software packages specific to the departments they serve such as ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Labview and more. Printing in computer-integrated learning spaces is provided on a cost recovery basis. All printers provide laser printing, with most offering full-color laser printing. In 316 Patton Hall and 330 Bishop-Favrao Hall, large format printing is available.
