Assistive Technologies
Assistive Technologies (AT) ensures that students, employees, and the general public with disabilities have appropriate technologies for accessing programs and services of the university. Assistive Technologies works with university ADA Services and with Services for Students with Disabilities, who refer individuals with a documented need for disability accommodations to AT for support services.
Assistive Technologies provides the following technologies and learning spaces: AT services (AT Svcs) facility in Newman Library (previously Special Services Lab); the AT research lab; (AT Lab) in Torgersen Hall; and AT central services support via networked AT and Web accessibility software. Teaching and outreach activities related to assistive technologies and research applications are ongoing.
Assistive Technologies encourages members of the university community to learn about the benefits of assistive technologies for people with disabilities as well as to become involved with research for advancing accessible technologies and for finding better ways to use existing AT for people with disabilities.
